What I Will Fight For

I hear it again and again:  property taxes keep climbing, while the state shifts costs onto towns.  Our town's current state reps have voted again and again to cut taxes on corporations and investment income, shifting that tax burden onto Goffstown homeowners.

Homeowners need property tax relief. We can help Goffstown homeowners, while funding the local services families count on, by returning taxes on large corporations to previous levels, and reinstating taxes on investment income. Cutting taxes for large corporations and wealthy investors, and shifting the tax burden onto homeowners, has put us in this property tax crisis. We need to return to a fair tax system in this state, so seniors can retire without fear of being taxed out of their homes, and young families can afford to put down roots here.

Good public schools are the foundation of a strong town and a strong economy.  Our current state reps have voted to divert funds that our public schools need, in order to send checks to wealthy families to defray the cost of tuition to exclusive private schools. We need to stop sending our property tax dollars to private, religious, and home schools when this funding is desperately needed in our public school classrooms.

I believe public education is under constant attack in Concord, and I'll defend well-resourced local public schools and the families and teachers who depend on them.

Our state ranks 50th in the nation, dead last, in state financial support of public education costs.  This places a crushing tax burden on family friendly towns like Goffstown, while effectively giving residents in the state's wealthiest towns a massive tax break.

It is time for change:  it is time for us to elect representatives who will stand up for our town's interests.

Rising costs are hitting Goffstown families from every direction.  I am running to make New Hampshire affordable for the people who actually live and work here, so a family can cover the basics, and a lifetime of work still adds up to a secure retirement in the community they helped to build.

Housing has moved out of reach for many Granite Staters.  I want New Hampshire to again be a place where young people can see a bright future, and be able to afford a home and raise their children in the community they grew up in.

For 25 years as a family doctor, I have had a front-row view of the challenges that Goffstown families face.  I have been listening to my patients and their family members, working with them to solve problems.  I want to apply these same principles of listening and teamwork to represent our town in Concord.
